Pull Cisco Meraki device data over the dashboard API

Meraki gear is cloud-managed and doesn't expose local SNMP by default the way on-prem switches do. The Meraki dashboard API is the path Linivo uses instead.

What you'll need

  • A Meraki dashboard organization API key with read access
  • Network access from the Linivo sensor to api.meraki.com
https://dashboard.meraki.com/o/settings Organization Overview Configure Settings API access Meraki Dashboard — Organization settings Enable access to the Cisco Meraki Dashboard API Enabled API key •••• generated Applies to This organization ● This organization-level toggle is off by default.
1

Enable API access for the organization

Under Organization > Settings > Dashboard API access in the Meraki dashboard, enable API access; it's off by default at the organization level.

2

Generate an API key

Under your user profile, generate an API key scoped to your account's organization access. Treat it like a credential, since it can read (and depending on scope, change) your entire Meraki estate.

3

Add the organization in Linivo using the Meraki integration

Rather than adding devices one at a time, Linivo's Meraki integration polls the dashboard API for the whole organization and creates a device per switch, AP and security appliance it finds, refreshing as devices are added or removed.
